Hurricane Information & Lodging Availability
Florida occasionally gets in the path of a Hurricane, though it is extremely rare that a Hurricane will directly threaten the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast, it has happened (Hurricane Charlie). Likewise, when a hurricane threatens other parts of Florida, many residents are forced to evacuate TO Southwest Florida.
When and if either of those events happen, the Visitor Bureau will activate an emergency banner at the top of the web page that links to this page. IF there is a hurricane threatening our area, pertinent planning and (worse case scenario) evacuation information will be present. IF there is a hurricane threatening another part of Florida, as happened in 2016 with Matthew, the VCB will make every effort to provide as much shelter and accommodation information as possible on this page.
Thank you to area accommodation partners who reacted quickly and notified us of room/home availability during the recent threat with Matthew. Though most evacuees were from the Southeast part of Florida which was spared most of the brunt of the storm and were able to return home quickly, our thoughts and prayers are with those in Northeast Florida who sustained much damage in the storm.
