Fishermen's Village Will Host the Annual "Lighting of the Village" Holiday Event, Nov. 17, 2012 We're sharing some enlightening news from Fishermen's Village about their holiday season spectacular, "Lighting of the Village," on Saturday, Nov. 17. The event marks the beginning of the annual "Festival of Lights" celebration which runs through Dec. 31, 2012. The "Lighting of the Village" features Punta Gorda's own Boogiemen Band. From a press release issued by Fishermen's Village... Fishermen's Village Festival of Lights is a celebration of themed decorations throughout the Village featuring more than one million lights. Santa will arrive at Fishermen's Village via Horse Drawn Carriage courtesy of Riding Star Ranch. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with an official ribbon cutting by Punta Gorda City Officials and Santa. Lee County Pipes & Drums will then parade through the Village, ending in Center Court with a special Christmas Performance. Other Festival of Light festivities include Charlotte Chorale Dickens Carolers, 5-8 p.m., String of Pearls Barbershop Harmony, 6-7:30 p.m., free balloon creations courtesy of Luis The Balloon Man, free Airbrush Art for face and body, complimentary refreshments from Village Merchants, pictures with Santa (bring your camera!), and live music and dancing with the Boogiemen Band, 5-9 p.m. on the Village Center Stage. Horse drawn Carriage Rides around the exterior of the Village will be offered throughout the evening by Riding Star Ranch (for a nominal fee). Patrons are being asked to bring a canned good to be donated to the Good Samaritans Food Pantry. Fishermen's Village Waterfront Mall, Resort and Marina is located off Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda.
