Peace River Wildlife Center got a measure of stability last month when the Punta Gorda City Council approved a new 50-year lease for the Center in Ponce de Leon Park. The center will move from private property adjacent to the park to a one-acre site within the park, more than doubling the center’s current footprint.

At a city council meeting on Feb. 15, the city approved the lease with an option for another 50 years. The city will prep the new site for relocation. The entire park will also be redesigned. Ground-breaking for both the park and the center will take place in April, 2018.
