Open Auditions at Lemon Bay Playhouse

The Lemon Bay Playhouse will hold open auditions for two upcoming play productions at 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 18 and Monday, November 19, 2018, at the Playhouse, 96 W. Dearborn St., Englewood. The plays are “Men Are Dogs” by Joe Simonelli and “Looking” by Norm Foster.

“Men Are Dogs” will be directed by Ric Goodwin and run from January 16 through February 10, 2019. It calls for a cast of six female and two male actors, and spins this clever tale: Dr. Cecelia Monahan has a serious problem.  As a therapist who runs a support group for single and divorced women, she must listen to a number of relationship problems from her unusual cadre of patients as well as dealing with the unsolicited advice of her live in mother on subjects ranging from dating to cooking recipes.  The doctor, however, is not above using some unorthodox methods of her own, such as hiring out-of-work actors to role play with her patients.  It is only when Cecelia meets the new substitute package delivery man that the doctor must learn to practice what she preaches!

Looking will be directed by Jenni Elliott and run from March 6 through March 31, 2019. It calls for a cast of two female and two male actors. From one of Canada's most popular playwrights comes this hilarious comedy.  Val is an O.R. nurse, Andy is in the storage business,  Nina is a police officer, and Matt is the host of a morning radio show. They're middle-aged, single, and looking. Val agrees to meet Andy after answering his personal ad in the newspaper, and Nina and Matt are coaxed into joining their friends for support. What follows is hilarious, touching, and so very true to life.

Scripts and sides are available for perusal on our website (sides only) or at the Box Office between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm weekdays.

Lemon Bay Playhouse Revives “Flower Power” With Paisley Craze

For the first Showcase Performance of our season Lemon Bay Playhouse will present “Flower Power! The Music That Changed The World.” The one performance of this show will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 7:30pm.

Paisley Craze, a five-piece band playing all your favorite music from the 1960s, covers the incredibly wide range of styles of that historic decade. The “Paisley Craze” 60’s music anthology band is a labor of love for Marty Bednar where so many playing styles are needed in one setting and so, so much great music is available to be played for one audience. Rock, pop, Latin Rock, Blues, Swing, Alt Country are all part of the larger picture of the 60’s music that grew today’s music scene and changed the last 40 years of popular music. This performance at our theater will help you have fun through music.  For more information about the show check out the Paisley Craze website at www.paisleycraze.com.

Reserved seat tickets are $20 each.
