FNPSThe Mangrove Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society invites the public to join in a nature walk at 9:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Don Pedro State Park Land Base, 8450 Placida Rd. Cape Haze, Florida 33946.

The Don Pedro Land Base was acquired in 1999, adding approximately 100 acres of recreational opportunities to the already existing state park. A one-mile nature trail starting at the land side parking area showcases the diversity of habitats to be found along this part of the Gulf Coast.  The trail loops through pine flatwoods and along the sometimes-wet mangrove fringe before leading you down to the ferryboat dock.

DIRECTIONS:

The park can be reached by traveling south on Placida Road from Rt. 776 in Englewood. The park is approximately 5.5 miles from the Merchant’s Crossing intersection of RT 776 and Placida Road. The entrance sign to the park is on the west side of Placida Road. Directions are also available on the Mangrove Chapter website: mangrove.fnpschapter.org
