CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS, Fla. (June 23, 2015) – The Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau is pleased to announce its sports marketing and sales manager, Sean Doherty, has earned his Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) credentials during this year’s National Association of Sports Commissions Symposium held in Milwaukee, Wis.
"The National Association of Sports Commissions is an outstanding organization dedicated to the advancement of its members," said Mr. Doherty, "I've had the pleasure of seeing the organization evolve over the past 15 years as it stays on the cutting edge of best practices within the industry. I look forward to continuing my professional development through the resources provided by the NASC."
Mr. Doherty has been with the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau since 2005 and has been instrumental in attracting several sporting events into Charlotte County. Key events include the USA BMX Sunshine State Nationals, Youth Basketball of America Gulf Coast Super Qualifier, Florida Flag Football Southwest Shootout, Sunshine State Games Track & Field Championships, Florida Half Century Softball Tournaments, and the F18 Americas Championship Regatta which will take place Oct. 18-23, 2015.
The NASC is dedicated to raising the standards of professionalism in the sports industry. Launched in 2002, CSEE has been the only certification available for experienced sports event professionals looking for professional development and continuing education in sports tourism. The multi-year program includes curriculum on topics within sales and marketing, strategic planning, event management, technology, revenue generation and the bid process.
Each year, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau conducts marketing, sales and promotional campaigns to increase awareness of and visitation to Charlotte County. In addition to generating economic contributions, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau is also focused on developing soft adventure or eco-tourism, a low-impact industry enabling the county to preserve the invaluable natural resources that contribute to its ecological health, distinguish the area and draw visitors.
