CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS, Fla. (April 25, 2014) – Whether it’s spending the day at a beach, enjoying a sunset over Charlotte Harbor, or a paddling adventure through mangrove tunnels, the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau invites visitors and residents to “Show Us Your Charlotte.” Announced today, the year-long program encourages photographers of every skill level to submit photos taken in Charlotte County to Prizes will be awarded quarterly by a panel of judges. 

“We know visitors and residents alike are passionate about Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands and we’ve developed this campaign to make it easier for them to show us what they love best about the destination,” said Lorah Steiner, Director of Tourism for the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau. 

Each quarter, Visitor and Convention Bureau staff will select four photos as contest finalists based upon the quality of the photos and how well they represent and communicate Charlotte County’s tourism offerings.  The final decision on first and second place winners will be made by the Tourist Development Council at their next scheduled meeting.  Prizes awarded will include gift certificates for local tourism related business and services.  First prize value will be no less than $200 and second prize will be no less than $50.  Prize winners will be announced the day following the meeting via a press release and will be posted on the bureau’s web site. The photos will be used to invite potential visitors to experience the area’s good nature and may be featured on the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau website (, on one of its social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, or on a postcard or in a magazine.
