PUNTA GORDA/ENGLEWOOD BEACH, FLA. (Oct. 14, 2016) – Today, the online series Adventure and Wildlife – Hosted by the Shark Brothers debuted on YouTube.com/RealPureFlorida. The new, original web series is part of The Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau’s marketing program aimed at attracting visitors to Punta Gorda and Englewood Beach interested in soft-adventure, nature-based activities and getting out to explore Florida’s wild outdoors.

“Our ecology underpins our economy.  We want to protect and preserve the very special natural product that makes Charlotte County such a desirable place to live and visit,” said Lorah Steiner, Director of Tourism for The Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau, “We are excited to launch this video series which we hope will engage both those who live here and those who come here to enjoy what we have to offer.  Having worked with the Shark Brothers on the creation of the video you will see, I can’t imagine anyone better suited to help us give voice to our message.”

“This series provides a meaningful collaborative opportunity to share with people around the world why The Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast, its natural environments, outdoor recreational opportunities, its people, communities, and quality of life are so unique. Our family moved to this area from Pennsylvania nearly four decades ago, and since then, we’ve been to many parts of the planet, but this is the place we always come back to and are proud to call home,” said the Shark Brothers, Sean & Brooks Paxton.

Episode 1 features recreational fishing, the importance of mangrove forests to Charlotte Harbor’s ecology, and a wading trip in Charlotte Harbor with the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center. Capt. Ralph Allen with King Fisher Fleet, Capt. Betty Staugler of Florida Sea Grant, and Chris Salmonsen, a naturalist with the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, are featured in the episode which has a runtime of 16 minutes. Additional episodes will be released at later dates featuring topics such as sea turtle nesting, area state parks and paddlesports.

Users are encouraged to share the videos on social media and use the hashtags #bestsideoutside, #ecologinomical, #thesharkbrothers and #adventureandwildlife.

Each year, The Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau conducts marketing, sales and promotional campaigns to increase awareness of and visitation to Charlotte County. In addition to generating economic contributions, The Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau is also focused on developing ecotourism and soft adventure travel. These popular low-impact industries enable the county to preserve the invaluable natural resources that contribute to its ecological and economic health, while distinguishing the area and drawing visitors. During calendar year 2015, Charlotte County welcomed an estimated 395,800 visitors and tourism generated an estimated $345,067,400 in direct expenditures and made an estimated $526 million economic impact in Charlotte County.
