Visit FloridaVISIT FLORIDA has taken steps to prepare for any potential weather threat that might impact our state.

A recent audit ensured VISIT FLORIDA has the most up-to-date emergency contact information on file for businesses. Should the state, or an area of the state, be faced with an emergency event,  Executive Contact and Secondary Emergency Contacts, which businesses have indicated should be a part of any emergency-related conversations, have been identified.

As in past response efforts, the Travel Alert and Advisory features will provide visitors with real-time, hyper-local information. These features include official state response resources, mapped links to live Twitter feeds from DMOs, webcam feeds from tourism destinations, videos created by the Content team and an aggregation of industry and consumer social media posts using #FloridaNow.  During a crisis event, VISIT FLORIDA asks that #FloridaNow be used, rather than #LoveFL so that posts will appear in the aggregated feed on VISITFLORIDA.com. 

Business may also want to publish or link to relevant VISIT FLORIDA content on their own websites and make customers aware of Florida Now. Utilize these vital social media resources to provide local updates in the case of an emergency. 

Should a widespread evacuation order impacting visitors be declared within the state, VISIT FLORIDA is prepared to activate their Emergency Accommodations Module.  When activated, this feature will provide statewide accommodations availability on VISITFLORIDA.com, its associated mobile site, and the Florida Division of Emergency Management’s FloridaEvacuates.com. 

On May 17, VISIT FLORIDA hosted a webinar—viewable now as a slide show presentation—to share the details of their enhanced Hurricane Response Plan, including communications, content, paid and social media efforts, as well as training on how to populate the EAM, should the need arise.
