The Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau was involved in the recruitment, management and/or support of 25 sporting events in calendar year 2015!

BMX RidersAlthough we are still waiting on results from a few of the events that took place towards the end of the year, we can project that the 2015 events generated approximately $10.5 million in direct expenditures and produced nearly 20,000 room nights for our local lodging establishments. Utilizing a conservative multiplier, this financial boost for the community translates into nearly $20 million in direct and indirect economic impact for our destination.

Key first-time events hosted by our community in 2015 include the USA BMX Sunshine State Nationals, the Sunshine State Games Track & Field Championships, the F18 Americas Championship Regatta, the Riverfront Classic Gymnastics Meet and the Englewood Beach Waterfest.

The VCB will continue to actively recruit and support sporting events that generate a proven economic benefit for our community. We are already working on plans to host even more events in 2016, including the Sugar Bert Boxing National Championship Qualifier, scheduled to take place June 10-12 at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center, and featuring  approximately 500 amateur boxers of all ages and weight classes.
