Charlotte County to Host Florida Golden Gloves State Championships April 14 – 17, 2011
CHARLOTTE HARBOR & THE GULF ISLANDS, Fla. (April 06, 2011) – Florida’s top amateur boxers will convene at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center in Punta Gorda, Fla., to compete in the Florida Golden Gloves State Championships April 14 – 17, 2011. Sanctioned by USA Boxing, the event is expected to attract more than 120 boxers ranging in age between 8 and 35-years-old.
Doors open at 4 p.m. each day and bouts begin at 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 and ringside seats are $25. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the following locations:

Charlotte Harbor Boxing and Fitness Club is the host and beneficiary of the event. The Club worked with the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau to bring the state championships to Charlotte County. Last March, the Florida Golden Gloves North Regional Championships were held at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center. The two-day event generated an estimated $362,500 in direct expenditures into the area’s economy. More than 1,000 participants and attendees, including 260 amateur boxers, traveled to Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands for the championship.
