2010 Charlotte Harbor Kayak & Wildlife Festival
April 10, 2010

The 8th Annual Charlotte Harbor Kayak & Wildlife Festival will return to Port Charlotte Beach Park on April 10. Presented by the Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources and the Port Charlotte Kayak Club.

Activities:


  • Kayak races: Distances: 2.5 mile, 5 mile, 9 mile (Adult-Child tandem)
  • Guided kayak tours of the Charlotte Harbor Blueway Trails conducted by the Port Charlotte Kayak Club

  • Free kayak demonstrations

  • Food/beverage, music, raffle prizes, and vendor booths

  • Kayak & wildlife seminars

  • Featured Speaker: Nature photography workshop by award winning photographer, Aurthur Morris

  • Kayak fishing tournament

  • And more

    About the Venue: Port Charlotte Beach Park is a county facility that is maintained and operated by the Charlotte County Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Resources Department. The park consists of white sand beaches, a boardwalk, fishing pier, boat ramp, swimming pool, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, and a recreation building with over 4,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, and ample parking.

    Directions: Coming from the North: Take I-75 south to Exit 179 (Toledo Blade Rd.). Go west on Toledo Blade and turn left (south) onto US 41 (Tamiami Trail). Continue south approximately 5 miles until you reach Harbor Blvd. and turn right. Park is located at 4500 Harbor Blvd.

    Coming from the South: Take I-75 north to Exit 170 (Kings Highway). Go west on Kings Highway and turn right (north) on US 41 (Tamiami Trail). Continue north until you reach Harbor Blvd. and turn left. Park is located at 4500 Harbor Blvd.

    Vendors: Vendor booths will be on site and typically include vendors in the following categories:

  • Kayaks & kayak accessories

  • Camping/fishing/outdoor adventure

  • Arts & crafts

  • Marine and boating

  • Nature/wildlife associations
