B.E.S.T. Baseball World Championship
Grand Slam for Gulf Coast Florida Fans July 20-28, 2007

Charlotte Harbor & the Gulf Islands, FL (July 3, 2007) –

As many families prepare for the July 4th celebration, additional preparations are underway to host Baseball's Elite Summer Teams (B.E.S.T), an extensive organization of youth (age 18 and under) baseball teams from across the nation for the 2007 B.E.S.T. Baseball World Championship.

Over 30 teams are expected to travel to Charlotte County to compete in the B.E.S.T. World Championships July 20 – 28, 2007. The week-long event will be held at the Charlotte Sports Park and is open to the public; tournament passes are $45 per person or $10 for a single day ticket

"This is one of the finest amateur baseball leagues in the country," said Becky Bovell, Director for the Charlotte County Florida Visitor's Bureau, "We are delighted to host their World Championship tournament and look forward to sharing Charlotte County hospitality with over 1,000 participants who will enjoy everything our area has to offer."

According to Bureau Sports Marketing Manager Sean Doherty, who worked to position Charlotte County as the destination of choice, the natural beauty, diverse outdoor recreation and value of the area had great appeal to B.E.S.T. Baseball's directors.

"Charlotte County’s appeal translates into additional attendance and participation for B.E.S.T.," said Bovell. "In terms of economic impact for our area, this tournament is a grand slam. The last two years, BEST drew 1,410 and 1,128 room nights to the host city." In addition to the competing teams, the event will attract family members, collegiate coaches and professional scouts to the area.
